Are Your Thoughts at the Level of the Counsel of God?

Ephesians 4:17,18,19 By Genesis 6:5, God saw that in the heart of man, his intentions, his thoughts, and his way of thinking was continually to do evil. It was consistent and in all practices. They were inventors of evil.

Evil is easier to cultivate than virtue. To practice virtue one must have knowledge of good. We are what we think. We make decisions based on what we think about.

Vanity (empty and without value) of the mind is reflected in how I reason and judge. How I think informs my decisions and impacts my life.

In verse 18, he is alienated because of ignorance. There is a before and an after. Paul says, “I don’t walk like I used to.”

Psalm 10 illustrates a man that is evil; he doesn’t seek God. God is not in any of his thoughts.

The old man is corrupt and perverted. It is incredible what damage a person can do in this condition. Even a cultural gospel can cause damage. Be renewed in the spirit of your mind! God is apt to forgive; he is merciful. God says my thoughts are not your thoughts. They are higher. What am I doing with the counsel of God? What is inside me? What is hiding behind me? The Bible says not to fool myself. The way I think will carry me to make choices. My actions will follow.

Romans 12:1 My body is a sacrifice so I can be renewed in my thinking. Is the way I think the way God thinks? It’s a process. It’s my whole life.

Acts 13:1 It says there was prophets and teachers. The apostles all received revelation directly. The Holy Ghost was moving among them, asking them to go on a mission. God wouldn’t have used them if they were irresponsible. They had to be right where God wanted them to be.

At certain height on Mt. Everest, you need oxygen. To get to this point, there is preparation, practice, awareness of dangers, and physical fitness. We can continue to climb and reach higher ground. I must renew my mind; the way I am thinking should be God's way of thinking.

My life needs to be in the counsel of God. Just as my body displays what my DNA is, my words will display what is in my mind, if it is the words of God.
