Psalm 34:3 To magnify is to make larger than it already is. God is big enough. But if someone is far away from God, I can magnify and make Him bigger with my praise so they will have a better chance to see Him for who He is.

The Fruitless Fig Tree

Mark 11:12,13,14 Jesus was human. He was hungry, experienced pain, weariness, rejection, poverty, and loneliness, even as an all-powerful Creator. These experiences allowed Him to be an example and have true understanding.

He came to the fig tree with an expectation; fig trees have multiple crops during the year. He was disappointed when he arrived and saw only leaves.

Immediately after this incident, Jesus made a dramatic statement in the temple. He saw people who were following all the rules and rituals and should have been fruitful. But Jesus did not find any. It was “all show and no go.”

Am I a disappointment to Christ? Do I have something to offer? Is my commitment to religion and not to God? A tree covered with leaves looks healthy, but isn't producing anything.

John 15:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 Jesus wants me to bear much fruit. He will do the work to benefit the Kingdom.

Mark 11:14 This reinforces his comment that any branch that doesn’t bear fruit will be thrown away.

Mark 11:15,16,17

Mark 11:20,21

God’s desire is that I bear much fruit. When Jesus looks at me does my tree have fruit on it?
