Like a Tree

Psalms 1:1,2,3 Trees start out as seeds. In the Bible, the sower drops seeds on all types of ground. Then, when a tree has good soil, it can germinate. It doesn't stop there; a tree grows deep and high.

Psalms 42:1 Am I attracted to the light?

Trees grow up and the canaopy grows outward. Trees are givers. They give more than they take (oxygen, cooling, shade, peaceful place, food and shelter for wildlife). They boost property value. They are an asset. Am I an asset to others?

Unforunately, a tree can be a liability if it's dying or diseased. This process doesn't happen overnight.

Galatians 5:19,20,21,22,23 These are selfish traits. Is my tree producing fruits of the Spirit? Others will know me by my fruit.

A tree doesn't have to be showy. It just exists.

A healthy tree is established, but flexible. I can be established and anchored and yet still be flexible to life's changes.

1 Corinthians 9:22 Paul was trying to adapt and be flexible. God might want to change what I am doing. Sometimes getting older and more established can bring a lack of flexibility.

Luke 19:1,2,3,4,5 He met Jesus because of a tree. Can God use me as a way for someone to reach Jesus?

Am I a tree planted by the rivers of water? Are my roots continuing to grow deeper? Do they tap into the Living Water. Is my tree growing higher towards the light? Do I have a disease affecting my trunk? Is my tree an asset? What kind of fruit am I producing?
