The Man Named Legion

Mark 5:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,20

This story follows another instance of a hopeless situation when the disciples were caught in a storm. The man, known as Legion, was bound by bad spirits. “Legion” means anywhere from 2,000 to 6,000. He was in a sad situation, in an extreme amount of pain. He wasn’t living a normal life. He couldn’t be restrained. No one could help him.

An individual can make attempts for a cure for serious issues, but before meeting Christ, everyone is bound and lost.

Jesus saw this man, saw his value, and went to him when others avoided him. Jesus can see how a person will make an impact in the world, even though I may see someone who is homeless or addicted or making terrible choices.

All spirits are subject to God. The man ran to Jesus and threw himself at Jesus's feet. Even the demons knew the power of God.

Every time there is an interaction with Jesus, there is a change. The man was mentally, physically, and spiritually healed. The change is inward and reflected in outward expressions.

The man wanted to stay with Jesus. However, Jesus gave the man a work to do: tell others about his story of change.

People may not listen to doctrine, but they will listen to my personal story of change and hope. God has a solution for every problem. Am I sharing this with others?
