The Self-Driven Life
A self-driving car contains a passenger, but no driver. Sitting in the back seat is not the same as being a driver. It is in automatic mode. This car receives instruction from someone, but there isn't a driver actively thinking or making decisions.

Manasseh's father, Hezihkiah, cut down groves. How did Manasseh grow up and make different choices? He profaned the house of God by building alters, then turns to witchcraft and idolatry. He goes further than the pagan nations. Why did Israel turn to false gods? Why did Manasseh make these choices?
God wants to be in charge. I can only see myself in part. This is the reason I cannot lean on my own understanding and I must trust God. If I don’t know the path, I am safer if God is driving.
Manasseh was unattached to God. He listened to bad advisors. This path leads to substitutions for the true God.
Philemon 1:24 Paul mentions Demas as a fellow laborer.
2 Timothy 4:10 Demas is described as forsaking Paul.
The self-driven life drives (leads) to lost faith and unbelief. Acknowledge God in all paths.
I can ask God to direct my paths. A self-driven life will look for advice, but not from God. I am responsible for following God's direction.
Is God driving everything I am aware of? Am I allowing God to choose my path?
