Freedom of Silence
Silence is powerful, but at times it is uncomfortable. What happens in a spiritual place where only God talks?
Galatians 4:3,4,5 One has to be in bondage before understanding freedom.
2 Timothy 2:22,23,24,25,26 There is a glitter to sin; elements of the world don't stop glittering. Temptation meets an underlying need, but it’s not a healthy attraction. I can struggle to understand what a temptation is, but I must come to a moment where I discontinue the debate and agree to a covenant of grace.
I may ask for freedom from a way of thinking or something in my life as I become older and wiser. I may gain additional liberty, even if it’s not from sin.
Psalm 40:1,2 When noise crowds out the voice of God, the noise is a problem.
Proverbs 7:11 These voices enslave and don’t care about God.
The noise of the elements of the world are more than just entertainment; it involves ideas, preferences, and beliefs. If contrary to the will of God, I then become enslaved to the noise.
Luke 4:16,17,18,19 What frees from noise and bondage of the world?
The Holy Spirit must draw a person to God. I can’t force someone to feel the conviction needed and adopt a spiritual profession.
Matthew 6:21 In order to respond to the Spirit, I need to be attracted to what the Spirit is offering.
Ecclesiastes 3:7
Habakkuk 2:20
1 Kings 19:11 When Elijah fled and went to the cave, he found that the cave was full of noise, even though he was actively searching for a quiet place. Sometimes I must empty out my thoughts before I can hear God's voice.
Silence allows only God to speak. This glorifies God. It allows me to stop giving priorioty and attention to my own thoughts and wishes.
