Interruptions
Mark 2:1,2,3,4,5 Jesus was having a serious teaching moment, but He saw there was a deep individual need.
Mark 4:36,37,38,39,40,41 How would I react if were awakened to an accusation? Jesus didn’t rebuke them. He understood their fear.
Mark 5:22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32,33,34 Jesus was in a hurry to treat an urgent need. He stopped to address another physical and emotional need on His way.
Mark 10:46,47,48,49,50,51,52 Jesus welcomed the man despite the actions of the disciples.
Luke 7:36,37,38,39 Jesus was busy eating and teaching. Others in the room condemned her, but Jesus didn’t berate her.
I must strive to be like Jesus. These interruptions may be an inconvenience to me, but they are opportunities to show support. This is the love of God.
Matthew 25:37,38,38,40 Taking the time to meet a need (how I respond) is to show Christ-like behavior. My job is to point to Christ. Sometimes people - or children - are just asking for attention. If I can allow interruptions in small things, they will know they will be heard in bigger things.
Boundaries can be set with compassion.
Some interruptions are not just simple daily irritations. They can be life changing and full of grief. God has a plan for the interruption. Jesus was interrupted and grieved when his friend Lazarus died. How am I handling my big life interruptions? Do I doubt God? Or do I turn toward God? He is grieved with me even when He knows His plan.
Both the woman with an issue of blood and Jaruis received a blessing. Jesus gave attention and help to both the urgent situation and the interruption.
Life’s interruptions are just life, there doesn’t have to be a bigger reason.
2 Corinthians 1:3,4 When I have an imperfect interrupted life, I can share my experience with others. I can grow, create a strong testimony, and be an encouragement to others by demonstrating the grace of God in these circumstances.
Do I talk too much about my interruption? There’s a time to just take it to God.
Romans 8:28 All things, including interruptions, work to good. Some of the greatest work is done in the interruption.
