I Still Have God

Ruth 1:16 Ruth told Naomi,“Don’t beg me to leave thee.” Ruth was making a commitment with someone who was completely broken, with nothing to offer. Naomi was at the lowest part of her life, but Ruth said, “I will follow you.” If I can make this kind of commitment to another human being, I can make this commitment to God.

Ruth 1:11,12,13 This describes how Naomi sees herself. She sees her life as sadness after sadness: moving, sickness, death of her husband, losing her sons. Everything seemed doomed.

Orpah saw Naomi exactly the way she presented herself. It all made sense to her. Ruth didn’t see what Naomi didn’t have; she saw what she did have. Sometimes there will be losses and empty spaces. This doesn’t mean I have nothing to offer. I still have God. If I am only looking at losses, I may come to the conclusion I have nothing else. Naomi had to be reminded that she had God.

The apostle Paul expressed many people had abandoned him, but he declared that the Lord was still with him.

Isaiah 6:1 The death of the king was at the end of a very prosperous time in Isreal. New buildings were built and there were advances in science and defense. When Isaiah saw the throne was empty, he began to worry. But God allowed Isaiah to see that the throne of the Lord is not empty.

Come near to someone going through an adverse time and remind them they still have God.
