Filters

1 Corinthians 13:12

We all see people and circumstances through our own filters. Imagine sunglasses- they make us see the world differently, through a filter.

As we look at life through the filter of our own experiences and opinions, we think we are seeing things clearly. But the truth is, we're all perceiving the same thing in different ways because our own unique experiences shape how we see everything! We respond to the world based on how WE perceive it, not based on how it really truly is.

The scripture says THEN we will know as we are known. God knows us fully and completely, as we truly are, without any filters. This is a beautiful hope to have- our current limitations juxtaposed with the clarity that only Jesus Himself can offer.

Filters can stop us from loving each other as God wants us to. Let us not be so consumed by our own hangups and the flaws of others that we fail to LOVE. Imagine how loving each other without assumptions and critiques would uplift the church.

Jesus said that others would know that we are His disciples because we would love as God loves.

1 John 1:6-7

Walking in God's light will result in seeing and loving others unconditionally.
