A Spiritual Landscape in 2026
In construction, an estimate will vary depending on the contractor. Accurate measurement needs a tool. Spiritually, I need God to be involved in my “life measurement” or there is confusion.
Luke 10:27 This is part of the mission of our life.
Matthew 28:19,20 This is also part of our life mission.
It's important to know about the landscape of what is ahead in life before I move forward with my mission. This helps me spot impediments ahead.
In today's world, there is an increase in:
- Humanism and atheism.
- Diversity of personal identities.
- People who are looking for meaning in life though God.
There is also a decline in Divine accountability. In other words, pretending there is no God to hold humanity accountable for moral choices. They are their own measuring stick.
Jeremiah 8:5,6,7,8,9,10,11
If I don’t have a tool to measure by and I am using my own measuresurement to make decisions every day, I am estimating with my own mind.
Proverbs 3:5,6,7 Humanism relies on science and reason and rejects religion. With this viewpoint, all ethical problems can be resolved by human thinking and don’t need God. The ultimate goal is to be happy. It's possible that this way of thinking can filter into a Christian's view of God, not by focusing on happiness in our present life, but by doing all things for personal (or family) happiness in eternity.
Who is the object of my desire? Do I make all my own decisions for myself, for my own benefit? Do I believe the cost of serving God is greater than the value I am receiving? It may cost me more than my perceived personal benefit, but it is the will of God.
