A New Name and a White Stone
Revelation 2:12,13,14,15,16,17 This church was in Pergamos. It was influencial in the area and marked by a variety of pagan worship. This letter mentions the doctrines of Balaam and the Nicolaitans and that God says, “Get rid of these false teachings or I will use a two-edged sword (the gospel).” Balaam's doctrine was associated with formication and idolatry.

Overcoming means there is something to overcome. I can desire to follow Jesus and love God, and I can even suffer, but if there are a few things God has against me, I must address these things to be an overcomer.
Am I immune to God's spirit and require a letter to point issues out? If I get a letter from God, do I open it or ignore it?
Revelation 3:21 God wants us to be on his throne with him. There are things that can’t sit on the throne.

The “white stone” is involved in litigation and represented innocence. A name represents who I am and my identify. God has given a white stone of liberty and innocence.
