Four Seducing Spirits: The Other and Sameness
1 Timothy 4:1,2 Seducing spirits are primarily oriented to people who want to make heaven.
Speaking lies and hypocrisy (to put on a mask or misrepresent self) is an indicator of a seducing spirit. They are persuasive, especially for people who want certainty and truth. Always be open to the Holy Spirit's examination.
1 Corinthians 12:10 Discerning spirits is a gift.
A spirit can’t deceive unless it offers a benefit, often offering something for nothing or bypassing uncomfortable sacrifice.
The Other
The “spirit of the other” can be an attraction or a repulsion. Ultimately, it separates me from myself. It allows me to assign something about myself or my thoughts to the "other" and I no longer see myself the way God does.
This is a controlling spirit. Underneath the desire to control, it is motivatated by fear.
Perfect (complete) love casts out fear. Fear corrupts thinking. Am I assigning a fear to another person or idea when I need to focus on a change about myself?
2 Samuel 12:9,10,13 David wasn’t sitting with own problem until he accepted Nathan’s message. When you sit with the problem, the Holy Spirit can help.
Seduction of Sameness
Acts 17:18,20,21,31 They were constantly looking for something new. They were discontent and easily bored. Conversely, this spirit can affect people who like things to be the same and find change difficult.
Have I allowed a spirit to seduce me and has it affected my ability to listen to what God has to say to me? Am I motivated by the love of God or by fear?
