Joshua 1:9 This is a commandment and a promise.
The Fiery Serpents
Numbers 21:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 The Isrealites wandered for 40 years, but God was still faithful during this period. After a time, the people became discouraged. They began to complain; they were disgusted by what God had provided. God saw their behavior as a sin and sent serpents. Their situation went from bad to hopeless.
Sin is like the destructive bite of the serpent. The serpent told Eve she wouldn’t die (have a consequence) for her choice against God. Satan tells people the same today. When people reject God and what He has offered to all, they don’t want to hear that there is a consequence for choices and actions.
The people realized their only solution was to go to Moses and confessed that they were wrong, they had sinned, and were sorry. God heard this request. He cares about us. If anyone comes to Him, He will help.
God provided the solution for a cure. It was foolproof, simple, and instantaneous. Perhaps a person that was healed had to convince others to go and look on the serpent. They were eager to tell everyone affected that there was a cure - they only had to look up.
Jesus was raised up and became sin to fulfill the debt that was owed by all.
Some around us may not respond to the idea of a cure for sin, even though it seems to be simple and the obvious best choice. Everyone needs this healing! What am I doing with this cure? Am I telling others about it?
