Lord, Save Me!

Matthew 14:30 What is often highlighted is that Peter sank and was a victim of a lack of faith. Peter also did great things. He had courage to step out of the ship that gave him security and take steps into unknown territory. When he began to sink he knew who to cry out to. I can come back from an error or mistake or failure. I can say, “I made a mistake, I got distracted, but now I’m drowning and need help.” Jesus lifted up Peter and didn’t say, "You deserve to sink."

2 Samuel 22:17,18,19,20 When David was fleeing from Saul, he was not the same young man that was famous for so many wonderful things. He had to hide in caves and ask for God's help.

Psalms 69:1 These words were functional for David and Peter. It can also be functional for me. “Lord, I have lost control! Please save me! I have lost my joy and peace. I don’t know how to come back.”

Luke 22:32 In Spanish it says “once you return” - Jesus knew the end of the story after his denial. The question is: have you come back from your error?

Jesus told Peter, “You will come back. And you will strengthen the brethren. You will overcome the fear and grow. And you will be before many important people who want to hurt you but you will have the courage and power you don’t have now.”

Being lifted and helped isn’t just for those in sin. It is also for the brethren in deep waters and close to drowning. God's hand will grab you if you have made irresponsible choices.

I can ask God to lift up my marriage or ministry if I feel like I’m drowning. No matter how heavy, God can keep me afloat.
