Our Essential Contribution
Life is chaotic and full of danger and risk; we all look for order, meaning, and purpose. Living a full life means our cup overflows at times and we seek to give to others.
There is an essential contribution holiness makes to the religious “marketplace,” which is full of religious preferences that appeal to people open to ideas and trying to make sense of life.
Revelation 18:9,10,11,12,13, The merchants are the sellers of ideas. Their customers are people seeking to make sense of a purposeless life. God's voice is not limited. It is even in this marketplace.
There’s over 2 billion people that have some association with Christianity. There are least 12 million who have a preference for holiness. My job is to be an ambassador, witness, and brother to souls looking for holiness.
I need to know why I am here and find it valuable to be here (Church of God congregation).
Exodus 3:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 God is looking for people who turn aside to see the burning bush. God didn’t send an angel or chase after Moses, he just created a “niche in the marketplace.” God tells Moses to remove his shoes as he approaches. This is different from other religions; the ground is holy. Conviction happens on holy ground because God cannot allow corruption in his presence.
Psalm 40:1,2,3 Holiness brings order to life. It’s essential.
Hebrews 12:1,2 Lay aside besetting sins. It will be a weight that troubles me. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Is my faith weak and wavering or does it tell me how to live? Is my faith full of my own faith ideas or the doctrines of God? Does my faith solve problems in my life? What story am I allowing Jesus to write?
James 5:15,16 Confession is not just seeking a penance for sins. It is meant to lead to a lasting conversion. This is a life of victory. I don’t have to make my brother wrong to stand on holy ground. This is arrogance and foolishness. I confess and forsake. If I am not forsaking, I am just practicing a habit. There is no victory in habit.
Start with a desire to be found on holy ground.
