Connecting Two Worlds: Close, But Not A Ringer
In horseshoes, a “ringer” is when the horseshoe compeltely surrounds a stake. A "leaner" earns point for being close. In the Christian life, there’s no such thing as “being close.” We must consistently strive to be a "ringer."
Matthew 6:9,10,11,12,13
1 Corinthians 1:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 “You are part of something bigger. The purpose of the gifts are so that you can stay focused on the spiritual world. You are called to be sanctified and holy (“saints”) to enrich your life, but you are living below the calling.”
Mark 1:14,15 Repent (change, turn) and believe that Jesus is the Savior. This is the beginning.
Colossians 1:13 Repent, believe, and then move (be translated) from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.
The letter mentions there are divisions among the church. It is possible to be called to be a holy people and set apart for a holy purpose (sanctified) and be walking in the flesh. Later chapters mention being unable to speak as spiritual, but as carnal. In chapter 5, there is mention of fornication and filing lawsuits against each other. If I profess to live in the spiritual world, but live in the material world, I will have a problem. The spiritual should inform the material world.
I have an interest in the agenda of heaven. What does God want for me today?
I am free to disobey God. Or make unwise choices. God is also free to grant and extend his grace to those that live according to his will.
James 2:14,15,16,17,18,19,20 Faith must be accompanied by works. If my life doesn’t prove this out, it is a lie. It’s a vain claim.
