Does right make might? What is the source of my strength?

Psalm 61:1,2

There are things that hold me back and things that move me further up.

Psalm 18:2 Do I believe that God is my rock and fortress, even if the enemy is at the gate? When I am fearful or upset where do I go? Do I try to fight my own battle? Most of my battles are not from the “other;” Satan is the enemy. If this is the true enemy, my strength is through the Lord as rock and fortress.

Does right make might? This is a seductive strength. It promises victory and truth by domination of the weak. How am I reacting to life situations? Carnal strength does not equal moral strength.

Judges 16: 20,21 Samson thought his might and power made right. He lost his strength, sight, and position.

Strength is thought of as pushing away a threat or dominating an opponent. God sees strength differently. We should assign strength to God and then act on His instructions.

2 Corinthians 12:7,8,9,10 Anything can be a thorn in the flesh. This is to keep me from being exalted - or think I am using my own strength. This thorn created a weakness that was wearing Paul out. He felt it was necessary for it to be removed: “I don’t want this weakness in me. I want strength.” A weakness is God's will to prevent pride. I can fight this or submit to the grace of God, which brings the fruits of the Spirit. Grace is working is when the fruits of the Spirit are produced with the presence of the thorn.

Bullying, oppression, pride, and arrogance is strength when there is domination over weakness. Confidence, power, victory, and causing good change is present when the strength is meant to heal, not to destroy.
