My ideas and God's ideas don’t always match up. My experience and knowledge is limited, so it’s always better when I let God lead the way.

The Recipe for Manna

Exodus 16:1,2,3,11,12,13,14,15 They had eaten what they had brought and now they were hungry. The word manna means “What is this?” in Hebrew. God provided something they had never seen before. It was something they couldn’t have imagined. Whatever God would have provided, regardless of how it looked, would have been manna. Everyone, with their varying needs, got this. It was exactly what they each needed.

In my life situations, have I ever asked, “What is this?” It is my manna, what I need. This may look different for each person.

The Isrealites had to do something with the manna. There were instructions to collect and prepare. They were to collect as much as they needed for the day.

I have to work out my own faith and take responsibility for the manna that God provided for me. When I do my part, my needs are met.

If I’m looking for leeks and garlic and what I get (my manna) is plain and boring to me, I must remember that this is what God has provided to fully meet my needs. I don’t need to worry about storing for the future. God will provide every day, regardless of where I am.

Numbers 21:5 The Israelites complained. The problem comes when I speak against God’s provision for me.

John 6:57,58 I can be saved, but still feel I am starving. I may be going through a wilderness and have a great need. I may not feel or see God. The Israelites cried out to the Lord. He heard them and provided for them.

God has not forgotten the recipe for manna.
