Everyone has to learn to call on God for themselves. I need to have strategies for nurturing a relationship with Christ.
If God shows you He wants more from you, go with it! Some things God reveals in time.
Learn to talk to God often.
Hebrews 4:16 Treat Him like someone you want to get to know. Invite Him into every part of your life - He wants to be a part. God stays present. He will not forsake me, but if I stop talking to Him I will not have a close connection with Him anymore. The Enemy will try to convince me that I can’t go to God because of a failure or how I feel. Remember, Satan is the author of all confusion. This is actually the time to go boldly. God cares and He wants to help me change and grow more like Him.
I will have to read the Bible to get to know God. I will never “have time.” I must set an intention and set the time.
Practice active faith.
Come to God respectfully. He is the creator; he gave physical and spiritual life. He also gave a Book of promises. God wants me to test Him on these promises. This builds my experience and a closer relationship. David got to know God while he was alone with the sheep. He had strong faith when he went before Saul and then challenged Goliath.
Listen for God's voice.
A relationship is two ways.
1 Kings 18:30,31,32,33,34,35,36,37 38 The first thing Elijah did was fix the altar of God. He said, “Let it be known that thou art God.” He understood the word of God and how to obey. There was a real connection. God wants me to have this much confidence.
Sometimes it’s good to just be quiet because there’s a lot of noise surrounding daily life. God's voice is quiet. He will be present, I but won’t be able to hear him.
1 Kings 19:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 God worked on Elijah’s behalf, but shortly after, he had to run for his life. Sometimes when things are going well, trials feel like they are on our tail. Elijah was discouraged, but God never left Elijah. Regardless of how it felt. When God asks a question, He wants something to change.
Revelation 3:20 God wants me to reach out to him.
