Taking Off and Putting On
There are things to take off my spiritual self.
Pay attention to what the Scripture says; it’s important. Follow the plan God has given.
In life, first things need to happen for other things to happen. A permit needs to be approved before a project can be built. I must follow the directions if I want an “A” from my teacher. I have to do whatever it takes to please God.
Colossians 3:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 This list describes a “garment” that is ill-fitting. That garment must come off in order to put on a new one. I can’t just put the garment of religion (religious covering) over the old garment. That is not the code.
A Christian has “died” or has been “buried” to the flesh (self). I can’t claim a promise, but fail to build with the code.
Colossians 3:5
Colossians 3:10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17 Separate yourself from these things; they are a deep inclination of nature. Not only does one commit wrong against God and others, there is the matter of motivation.
Once the old man has been removed, now I can put on the new man. The image of God only works when the corrupted image or nature is put aside. The two are incompatible.
There are things I can put on after I have put on the garment of righteousness. The essence of me is mercy, which replaces unforgiveness.
Charity is Godly love and produces the peace of God that rules in my heart.
