As we continued our study on spiritual perfection, we discussed much the thought have being humble before God in order to maintain our spiritual standing before God.
God hates pride and the haughty heart. One of the best examples in the bible is the story of the Publican and Pharisee told to us by Christ himself. Luke 18:10-14 teaches us that it is the humble heart before God is what wins God Favors/ The Publican in this parable wouldn't even lift his eyes to heaven - he was humble before God and God was please with his approach. Moving away from humility is a move towards pride and therefore contention. Only by Pride cometh contention, and it is written that "blessed are the peacemakers, for the shall be called the children of God" - Matthew 5:9. Humility coupled with contentment is of great price before God.
