We have, for the past several weeks continued our study on spiritual perfection. From Job, to Asa to Hezekiah, we have scriptural references that tell us those men were perfect in the sight of God. Psalms 37:37 "Mark the Perfect man,and behold the upright: for the end of that man is Peace" we again see the word perfect used again as a reference to mankind.
So how can we be perfect in this life? Colossians 3:12-14 teaches us that Charity (love) is the bond of perfectness. By being kind, merciful, meek, long-suffering and by forbearing one another, we can strive to provoke one another to love and to good works. This perfectness is not in the flesh, as we are designed to fail in the flesh - the perfection is in the spirit and in the motivation of the heart. We do not walk after the flesh and therefore we don't make an excuse to sin, we walk after the spirit and follow after things that allow us to lay up treasures in heaven. By being content and stroking the fires of love for God and for our fellow man, we CAN we perfect, and sinless before God.
