In many places in the Bible, there is a comparison drawn between being a Christian, and being a Soldier (onward Christian Soldier.....marching as to War). The title to this weeks lesson was "God Ain't Got no Wimps, He has soldiers"
And today's world is a battle field. The bible says that in the last day "perilous time shall come" and battlefields are perilous to say the least. Nevertheless, we need to endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ (II Timothy 2:1) and stay loyal to our Commander in Chief even when the odds seem overwhelming against us. Christ and his Church has NEVER lost a battle. By staying focused, disciplined and faithful to the principles of Christianity, Christ will mold us into resilient and steady soldiers who can be counted on to endure the battles and storms that the enemy throws our way.
As it is in any refined unit, we as Christians need each other to be in our places and to know that we can count on one another to be in position during the battle. This isn't more true than in the Chrstian Family home. Wives need to embrace their place and Husbands need to take responsibility for their place. Decisions need to be made with the "safety" and "prosperity" of the unit (family) as the primary driver and not be done with a unilateral (you just need to submit) attitude. Wives and Husbands need to honor and respect each other and work together to guide the family.
Working together as Christians as a cohesive unit with a single goal and purpose in mind is how the early Church was so successul. They supported one another and believed the same thing making their message of unity, love and holiness unreproachable. They are our example on how to build and grow.
