John 13:15-17 Christ has left us a perfect example to follow. His greatest desire was to do His Father's will. We as humans love to set goals for ourselves and make plans for our lives. But sometimes we need to take a step back and ask the question, "Is what I'm doing the Will of the Father?"
If we feel discouraged, we should check ourselves and find whether there is anything that God has asked us to do that we haven't been doing. Discouragement will come if we aren't living up to the example Christ set us.
JOhn 5:30 Jesus was on this earth to do God's will. He knew He had a limited amount of time on earth; thus, He must have dwelt on His Father's will often. We often think that we live in the worst times and circumstances that have ever been - but things were terrible in Jesus' day also. In fact, things could even have been worse than today. People were openly persecuted and killed for their faith. As for doctrines and ideas of man, Jesus had to deal with them all. He lived in a world of people with strong religious ideas who firmly believed that what they had been taught was truth. Jesus wanted to show the world who God was. If we want to do the will of the Father, we must desire to show Him also.
When we're following Christ, His Will, will sometimes require us to do things that will bring great fear upon us. The Devil will work on our minds and make us believe that what God has asked us to do is alot bigger than it really is. In the human, it is very difficult to press past these feelings - to press past the urge to just relax and not do anything. But if we'll take the first step and just do it, we'll find that it is in these times that we do our greatest work and make the most impact.
The Devil will also use discouragement to keep us from doing God's will. Discouragement will greatly hinder our use in Christs' work - it causes us to draw inward and become self-protective, putting us in "survival mode". We cannot stay down - we must find a way out so that we can move forward for God. Whether we realize it at these times or not, we ourselves have the key to freedom from discouragement. We can get out and move on if we will. Sometimes, getting free means just pressing and going out to work for God anyways.
Deut. 28:1-12
God has promised to give us not only the needs but the desires of our heart if we do His will. If you don't know where to begin, start by praising God. When we start to reach out to others and meet their needs, ours will cease to be important. Seek God and ask for Him to reveal His will in your life.
