 "...he that receiveth seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word and understandeth it, which also beareth fruit..." Matthew 13:23 It's important that when we read God's word, that we understand what it is saying.
Just memorizing a verse will not do you any good if you do not understand what it is teaching and apply it to your life. God is able to help us to understand when we pray and ask. Also, coming to the Church of God services, paying close attention to the message, and following along in your Bible will help you in your understanding. It's not those who only hear God's word that will bear righteous fruit, but those that hear and understand.
