God will not give us more than we can bare when we are right in His sight.
In Job 1:1 it says “There was a man in Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.”
God had given Job everything he had. He had ten children, was prosperous and had a good life; And God knew Jobs heart. That is important. When Job came to present himself to the Lord the devil came also. God said to the devil, “hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in all the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” Job 1:8
What a wonderful thing for God to look upon Job with such confidence. We too want to be able to be seen like that in God’s eyes. God knew Job inside and out. That is why he let him be tested to that extent. God knew what Job could endure. The devil answered God and said, “But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.” Job 1:11
Now the Bible doesn't tell us that God hesitated, or told the devil, "well I’m not sure," but instead we read; “And the Lord said to Satan, behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand.” Job 1:12
Do you see the confidence that God had in Job? God knew him well. He no doubt had tested him many times and knew how he would do in this trial. I am thankful that God knows if we can endure our trials. He is not sitting there waiting for us to fall. He wants to have confidence in us that we will go through too, and come out still serving Him. After Job had been told of his children dying and that pretty much everything he owned had been taken or destroyed, his response to it all was, "...naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Job 1:20
He knew where everything he had came from. How important it is for us to remember that everything we have is God's also.
"In all this Job sinned not; nor charged God foolishly." Job 1:22 Job did very well in his trial, but there were some things he learned that he could do better. Nevertheless, he still came through serving God. What a lesson to be learned!
