God has in his heart, for his faithful child, a holy love that is strong and passionate and he is jealous over us. We have heard the commandment: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and all thy soul and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength… Mark 12:30
But as we endeavor to keep this commandment, as with any love affair, when we see the same passionate love being exercised toward us from the heart, it makes it easy to love back.
When we look into the scriptures and study them, we see emerging a most beautiful love from the heart of God toward us and as we meditate this boundless love, to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength becomes not only easy, but a passionate desire in our own hearts.
God’s promise to us in Jeremiah 32: 41 is “Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.”
God has put his whole heart and his whole soul and all his love into the salvation of men. He gave us his very best sacrifice in his beloved Son, Jesus Christ. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
The Song of Solomon is a beautiful book because it exemplifies this passionate love between God and His chosen one. As you study this book and look at it with the thought of a passionate love affair between you and the most holy God, your heart will be filled with awe and wonder and a zealous, passionate love toward this most precious King.
Here are just some of the wonderful things you will find that God says to you who are his children. I take these scriptures personally.
Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse… how fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! How much better is thy love than wine! And the smell of thine ointments than all the spices. Song 4: 9-10
God calls us his sister! What an exalted position. And then he calls us his spouse! Since he is the King, that makes us a queen.
My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother; she is the choice one of her that bare her. Song 6:9
God gave heavens best to purchase us and make us holy- undefiled.
- Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1 John 4:10)
- How fair art thou and how pleasant art thou, O love for delights! (Song 7:6)
God delights in us!
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, and a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave… many waters cannot quench love! Song 8: 6-7
Wow! What a passionate love God has for us. In a world where real lasting love seems to be in scarcity, this truly is good news!
