What  would you give in exchange for your soul?

Gain the whole world. The approval of the world, its luxuries, fashions, fame, fortune. The things of the world. Getting to do whatever you want in this world. Getting everything from what they think, how they act, how they dress, where they go, what they do. Gain the "whole world" and yet lose your soul...

How can you lose your soul by all that?

When you follow after the world, it leads you away from God and not to God. The world and how they do things, and the way they think, is contrary to God. When God says to be of modest apparel (clothing), the world says take it off and show more of yourself. When God says be humble, the world says be bold, prideful and assertive for what you want. When God says to love one another, the world is critical, fault finding, and often doing it all in a joking manner. So contrary is Gods ways to the worlds.
 
We need to "open our eyes" and look around and see what has been produced by the world's ways. Then we need to read the Bible, look closely, and see what has been produced by living Gods way.

The most important thing you actually have is your soul! "What shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" Are you willing to exchange your soul for the things down here, or are you willing to give them up to make heaven your home?

Jesus teaches to go into the world to be an example to the unbelievers. We don't have to fear anything, with Jesus as our guide.

At one time, I thought the trade would be worth it, the "Big search" was to find happiness, and , ironically, I found it in the least likely place, the LORD, now there is no more chasing after the ways, and the "advertising" of the worldly things to fullfill me. I praise God and his people for showing me this better life. it sounds strange to gain life by giving up life, and to recieve by giving, but this is how it works. Gods ways seem normal now, but very different to this "me first" world, and sometimes hard to see until your eyes become "opened"
