Note: the following is a personal testimony.

I was thinking about my mentally handicapped daughter this morning. Praying "Lord show me what is something that she can excel in." We have other children in the house and they excel, thank the Lord. But how does it feel being around people who can, and feeling like you can't?

Thinking about this brought me to these thoughts.

When I was a young girl, I had dyslexia. I had to go to a special class to get help. Thankfully I did get help with that, and today I am able to read quite well. However, school was difficult for me all the way through high school. You feel dumb, especially when you have a mom who was pretty much a perfectionist, a sister who was pretty smart, and a dad who was smart. I guess I was the one that was not really able to accomplish very much.

I am sure there are a lot of kids, teenagers and adults who might have felt or feel the way I did. But when I got saved (saved from sin) God was able to change all that. Not at once, but little by little. With Him helping me, I am able to accomplish things now that I know without Him I could never do.

Now, I am not highly accomplished at anything like the world would look on and view as "accomplished." But one thing that has made a difference: when I got saved, I started to live right! That is something most people in this world lack in their lives. You can be an accomplished: attorney, businessman, singer etc., but inside you are still void of: happiness, doing right, having the right attitudes, and having the love of God within yourself. These things only come from God.

I am not saying that you can't be any of those things at times, however, the greatest thing is to live right all the time. Who wouldn't want to hire someone who they knew they could trust to not: steal, cheat or hurt them. Who wouldn't want to have a friend that they knew would truly love them, help them, and not leave them.

All things are possible with God. Living right (a holy life) is the greatest gift of all.

God may or may not show me what my daughter can excel in, but he does bring my mind to the thing that matters the most: "Living a right life". Praise God.

That is soooooo... good. What a blessing to be reminded of this. We are God's children. What higher calling could we ever have than that!
