In Hebrews the 8th chapter, it instructs us how the Old Testament Law was a shadow of what was to come with Jesus Christ. God was planning to fulfill what the old sacrifices of the Law could not do. The old sacrifices would never change the heart to where it had a perfect love to obey God.

The ark of the Old Testament (which represented the presence of God), is now to be in our heart. Yes, we can have the actual presence of God today in our heart!

The new plan (through Jesus) would not be “a knowledge only” experience, but today we can know God personally and intimately. God wants us to know him and have His presence right now. But, there must be no sin between us and God to do this. If we have no sin in our life, what is there to fear in God's presence?

Again, the Old Testament was only a shadow of the real thing we can have today:

Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the Table and Ark and Candlestick of the Sanctuarysecond veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:Hebrews 9: 1-7

In the Old Testament, a priest went into the first room every day. But only the High priest went into the second room once a year. All these sacrifices could not make the people and their moral conscience perfect. So called "Christian" religions today are basically doing the same thing today. What they do still does not make the people and their moral conscience perfect. They are essentially teaching that the sacrifice that Jesus gave of himself could not make people perfect. It was no better than the sacrifice of an animal - and this is not true! Jesus' sacrifice can make a perfect heart. When he died on the cross, he spiritually made the way for all of us to go into the Holy place. That is why when he died, the veil between the first room and the Holy of Holies, was torn completely in two, from the top to the bottom.

Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Matthew 27:50-51

Jesus came to take away the sins of the world. When we really believe in Jesus, he will take away our sins when he forgives us. Then when you get an understanding of the need to be sanctified, don’t hold back. Ask God to also purge the fleshly nature so that you have the power to never go back to sin again. After we are saved, we can have God with us, but we also want to have him in us.

Many people today are being taught that the Spirit of God makes them do all kinds of strange, inordinate things. If they are asking for the Spirit of God, but still have sin in their lives, they would die if the true Spirit of God came in. You must first have your sins forgiven and then keep your vessel (heart) right. People in mere religion are petitioning for "the spirit" without a sin-free life. And since the true Spirit of God will not enter into a vessel with sin, they often are receiving a different spirit! Many take on spirits that cause them to do strange things like: rolling on the floor, speaking in a "bibble-babble" that they claim to be the gift of tongues, or receiving a "tingling feeling" going up and down their spine to make them feel good, etc. - all the while, they still have sin working in their heart and life.

A sister gave her personal testimony about how that she went from church to church, but they all told her she could not help but sin. The Church of God was the only place that she heard that you can be free from sin. She heard about sanctification and knew then that her whole life could be committed to God, to serve and obey him.

Jesus is the perfect sacrifice. By faith in that sacrifice, we can have that perfect work done in our heart and life!
