Sanctification is a crisis work that helps us to maintain our victory in our soul. Being saved means one has asked the Lord for forgiveness and to have turned away from our sins. Sanctification is a further work that is needed in the soul to purge out the old fleshly nature that causes individuals to eventually do sin again.

In the Old Testament, God had a plan for people to follow and be saved. They had an altar of sacrifice. It caused a sense of responsibility when they brought an innocent lamb to be sacrificed for their sins. Later, Jesus Christ came to be the Lamb of God because He became The Lamb that was sacrificed for us. He was The Old Testament tabernacle and court, including the altar.not just a replacement for an animal. Religion treats Jesus as if he is another lamb that can’t change them. But His sacrifice has the power to change us! Jesus accomplished something much greater because His blood sacrifice has the power to change us completely.

Also in the Old Testament, there was a High Priest to lead and administer the sacrifices. Today, Jesus is also our High Priest, who interceded with the sacrifice of himself - for us!

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. Hebrews 8:1-2

In the Old Testament, they had a court and a tabernacle with a brazen altar to sacrifice the lamb.
The tabernacle had two rooms. Once a year, they offered a the blood of the sacrifice on the golden altar, which was before the veil that led to the second room: the "Holy of Holies" - the place of God's actual presence. The first room was where the priests did their work all year. In the second, only the High priest went in once a year. It was a pattern of what Christ does for us today. If we are saved, we are the tabernacle. We are to be the place of God’s dwelling. The pattern is, that we need to be saved. Christ was sacrificed for us. Jesus represents the lamb sacrificed that allows us to spiritually be able to enter into the Holy of Holies room, and not die with the very presence of God in us. We can be forgiven, and have the sinful, fleshly nature purged out, so that we can have the divine nature of God within.
