HellEnter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Matthew 7:13-14

There is a strait way and there is a broad way. What does the word, strait mean? It means difficult, narrow, confined, restricted. It also means to draw tight, strict, rigid, distressing. The scripture says to enter in at the strait gate. It means that there will be rules and it will not be like the broad way. It will be completely different.

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23

People out on the broad way aren’t denying themselves, aren’t taking up their cross, and aren’t following Jesus. They are following their own way in things. It is vitally important to obey Jesus. You don’t hear a lot about Hell. People are joking about Hell and making a lot of fun. They think it is funny.

The world is full of unbelief and somehow they think that Hell is going to be a nice place. You’ve probably heard people say that they are probably going to Hell but their friends will be there also so it won’t be that bad. There are a lot of things that people are saying about Hell that is not true. There is a broad way and the broad way leads to destruction. What is destruction? Destruction is Hell. There is a Heaven to gain and a Hell to shun. We need to make sure that we are on the right way.

Another article that Irecently read was about Tom Huxley. He lived in the nineteenth century and promoted Humanism, which is against Christianity. Huxley was an agnostic. He was in Dublin, Ireland one time. He got into a taxi, which was a horse and buggy, and said; I’m in a hurry, go as fast as you can”. They started out and went really fast. Huxley leaned back and closed his eyes and was resting. Then he thought to himself that they should have arrived at his destination. He opened his eyes and looked out the window and saw that they were going the wrong way. Then he realized that he hadn’t told the driver where to go. He had just said to go really fast.

The world is just that way. They are going really fast and don’t realize that they are going to Hell. Since they are going fast they think that it is ok. That is a reason why we really need to carry a burden for all the lost souls. They are not going to carry a burden for themselves and they are on their way to Hell as fast as they can go. We need to pray that the Lord will help us to have a burden for them.
