burden

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

It is vitally important that Jesus said; come to me all ye that labor and are heavy laden. It is that heavy laden of sin, that bondage of sin that you are not able to get rid of on your own. Jesus says; take my yoke and learn of me. It is so good that we can learn of Christ, because his way is so much better. If you feel like being yoked with Jesus is hard, you better think again, because God’s way is easy.

For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. Psalms 38:4

One of the things about being yoked with Christ is that we can cast our cares over on him. He doesn’t want us to be carrying them by ourselves. He wants to carry them for us. Many years ago, a lady was carrying two big bags down the road. Somebody stopped in a wagon and told her to hop up on the wagon and they would help her get to where she was going and they would help carry her load. The woman got up on the wagon, but she kept holding the bags. They stopped and asked her why she was still holding onto her bags. She said that she didn’t want them to be too heavy on the wagon.

Sometimes Christians think that they just have to carry their load of life. Why do you have to carry your load? They think that it may be too heavy on Christ. Jesus said to cast all of your cares on him. He said to cast all of our burdens on him because he cares for us. If we want to carry our own cares and our own load, it is because we are not meek and lowly and following the directions of Christ. When people are burdened down and fretting and worrying and stewing and carrying things, it is because they have not committed it and given it over to Christ. When you commit everything over to Christ, you shall find rest for your soul. Until you commit everything, you are not going to have that rest. That is why it is so easy when yoking up with Christ is because he gives us that rest.

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalms 55:22
