"The LORD is my rock and my fortress..." Psalm 18:2

Two little spiders lived with their mother. One spider's name was Suzy, and the other, Suky. Suzy always tried to help her mother but Suky tended to be lazy.

One day their mother sent them out to make their own homes. Suzy was careful to find a secure spot with good protection from the elements. Suky saw the first old, crumbling web from another spider and decided that was good enough. Everything went very well for awhile. They enjoyed their new lives feeling very grown up and independent. Eventually, as in life, a big storm came. Suky's web was destroyed by the fierce winds, but Suzy's was safe and comfortable and stayed quite dry. Suky fell out of her web and ran to her sister's web and where they survived the storm. Suzy told her sister that she needed to build again, but she needed to build carefully this time. Jesus taught about the wise and foolish builders found in Luke 6:47-49. It describes two people. One heard God's word and did what it says. The other heard it and ignored the teachings. We need to take heed to the teachings of Jesus and not just hear them, but actually live them. That is like building our life on the rock, Jesus.
